Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Tasty local food, very nice homey atmosphere, extremely helpful waiting staff that went out of their way to explain the menu for non-Italians and make recommendations. Great value for money also, totally worth a visit!"
"The food was really good. The service was very friendly. The atmosphere was quite fun because there were many people. Only point of improvement is the bathroom which limited for such a big restaurant."
"Delicious food, just not pizza and spaghetti. My favorite meal on this trip to Italy so far. Friendly and helpful staff. I will be back for more."
"Before our trip I spent considerable time reading reviews and recommendations for restaurants along the way. Osteria Nane della Giulia was one of the highest recommendations in Padua. We split the potato dumplings and the chicken leg. Both were amazing. Another in our group had the donkey stew and it was also incredible. This was one of the best meals we had on our trip. Which matches several of the recommendations that led us to this restaurant."
"Words cannot describe the joy that this restaurant brings to me. I have only had the pleasure and privilege of going there twice, to celebrate my anniversary, and they have been two of the best dinner I believe I will ever have. Starting with the sublime food selection, there is something there for everyone, the wine is perfect and it is all achieved in a very respectful amount of time. The staff are the most welcoming and understanding, and they always make sure we are comfortable and provide us with whatever we need. A fine gentlemen kept an attentive eye on our table and continued to bring us bread if we were running low, which was a lovely gesture. As for the decor, the environment of the restaurant is the impossible combination of the splendour of a high end restaurant and familiarity of your family home. The lighting is soft and welcoming, and the pictures take you for a trip around the history of Italy and cuisine. The best restaurant in Padova and one of the most incredible hidden gems I have stumbled upon. This restaurant is a must visit to anyone that enjoyed food."
"Ohhh Take your time to find this place, very close to Saint Anthony Basilica, Padova city center and yet, in a peaceful secluded narrow street, here it is . Service is great, food is very " local" old recipies and tasteful well dosed ingredients. The board saying " No Spaghetti No Pizza" should ring a bell ....Enjoy !!!"
"Short version: Best meal and best wine we had in Padua! Longer version: the staff were lovely and gave us a break down of the menu with a detailed description of the plates. They explained what each one was, how it was cooked, and explained which were local and which were house specialities. Then: instead of house wines they had a selection of wines to choose from by the glass! Not a connoisseur ourselves we asked our server to decide and we ended up with the two best wines we had all trip! The food came and was delicious and quite different to other meals we had, being more similar to Northern European food as we got the donkey stew and a chicken dish that was cooked in red wine. Would go again !"
"It’s a place that serves local traditional food, not highly recommended for tourists. It offers typical dishes like beef tongue, cuttlefish, etc."
